Burned but not consumed

Issue # 134 on COB on Microsoft Live

Created on October 23, 2011

This week we had revival and our associate Pastor opened up with the perfect sermon. He read about Abraham and the burning bush and detailed the ordeal of Abraham dealing with Pharaoh. As he continued his sermon he said something that I just had to write about.God put all sorts of things on my heart during his sermon, but this one thing stood out the most.As Reverend Harris detailed the burning bush, reading from the word of God, he noted that the bush was “Burned but not consumed”.

Isn’t it amazing the when the word of God is burning within us; any place can be a holy place. We often talk about others being hard hearted like Pharaoh. But what about us?As believers we can be just as cold to God’s word and his work.We are called by the word to put on the whole armor of God.We all know armor is usually made out of metal. The best thing about metal… tho it melts, it never burns to ash!

Abraham was able to declare to the children of Israel that God “has seen your tears, and heard your cries.”There is no need for us to buckle under the pressures of everyday living when we have someone able and willing to not only help, but in some cases, fight the whole battle on our behalf. We know that satan will come against us and if we have any hope of making it we have to have God on our side. Stretching out the rod for us means exercising our faith and walking with the Lord.We may get burned but because of God’s grace and mercy, we will never be consumed.
