My search for love has forced me to ask myself a few questions.
I have had to ask myself if I am truly ready for what I am asking for. I have also questioned if I am mentally, emotionally and spiritually equipt for a lasting and loving relationship. As I pondered all of this an even bigger question came to mind. Is my relationship with my first love strong enough to bring someone else in? I was surprised with how quickly I answered no to myself. You see my first love is Christ. And right now, I think we are having a problem in our realtionship... ME!
You know how I love the music and ministry of Deitrick Haddon. On his album "Seven Days" he has a song called "I'm the one". He talks from Gods perspective. He tells the listener that He is the one who has been holding them and loving them wrong or right. He expresses that he hates seeing them go thru so much pain and that if his child would just allow, He can help. The course resounds, "I'm the one, that your searching for. But the question is do you wanna be loved? I can ease the pain, I can stop the rain, but the question is, do you wanna be loved?"
We all want to be loved. Often times we want the love of a nother person. We want the joy of being in a relationship and the comfort of companionship. But we neglect to think of the time and effort we have to put into making those relationships work. God knows what is on the inside and He is preparing in us what will glorify Him and His kingdom. If we can't take the time to foster that relationship, then we miss out on the joy of experiencing the changes that he makes in us. Making us greater, stronger, better and ready for someone else. We neglect to love ourselves when we forget how to love God.
The song meets it's height toward the end when thru Deitrick, God proclaims, "Why don't you just call on me, and I'll come running, I'll meet you at the point of your need and I will answer, Yes I will just realize that I'm the one!" We treat God like we love Him, but we don't show the actions that say we are IN LOVE with God. You love your family, your friends and sometimes even you enemies. But it is God that you should be in love with. I have been searching for a person this whole time and neglecting the God that is in love with me. Its now that I wish that social sites had more options for relationship stats. I would change mine from single...to saved.
